POSTINGNEWS.ID --- Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian announced that demonstrations that have been taking place since August 25, 2025, have caused damage in 107 locations across 32 provinces. These demonstrations have caused extensive damage to various public facilities, even the parliament building. Tito emphasized that while some of the demonstrations at these 107 locations were peaceful, many also turned violent, with acts of vandalism and arson.

According to Tito, the areas most severely affected by these demonstrations include North Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), South Sulawesi, and West Kalimantan. "However, there are still several other regions that are less affected," Tito stated at the 2025 Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Tito explained that the demonstrations in these various regions have caused significant damage to public facilities, such as government offices. Not only that, but lives were also lost due to the violence during the demonstrations. Although Tito could not yet estimate the exact total losses caused by these mass demonstrations, initial estimates indicate that they reached hundreds of billions of rupiah.

The former National Police Chief also stated that Jakarta was one of the areas most affected by the demonstrations. Twenty-two Transjakarta bus stops and the MRT were severely damaged, with total losses reaching Rp 3.3 billion for the MRT, Rp 41.6 billion for Transjakarta, and Rp 5.5 billion for CCTV. In Makassar City, the South Sulawesi Provincial and Makassar City DPRD buildings were engulfed in flames, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to five others.

In Surakarta, the Solo DPRD Secretariat Office was also targeted by arson. Meanwhile, in Surabaya, the Grahadi Building was also burned, and 11 police posts were severely damaged or burned. In Kediri City, the DPRD building was vandalized and looted, and the Kediri City Police Traffic Unit office was pelted with stones and evidence vehicles were damaged. In Mataram, riots also occurred at the DPRD building and other legislative facilities.

Damage also occurred in various other areas, including Bandung, Semarang, Brebes, Pekalongan, Tegal, Cilacap, Kediri, and many more. Government property was damaged, buildings burned, and public facilities were looted by the protesters. Even the Baghawanta Bari Museum was damaged, with several historical objects reportedly damaged or missing.

Tito emphasized that this situation cannot be allowed to continue, and the authorities will take firm action against anyone involved in this violence. "We will enforce the law fairly and firmly against the perpetrators of this chaos," he asserted.

Given this situation, we must all be wise in expressing our views and aspirations for a peaceful and harmonious nation. All parties must strive to find solutions through dialogue without resorting to violence. We all have a responsibility to maintain peace and safety together. Hopefully, incidents like this will not be repeated in the future.
